Okay, I think I'm going to switch from soley a digital artwork site, to one that holds my arts/crafts/hobbies and other misc stuff too/ XD

Here's my latest project that's like a year in the making:

I made each tile by hand~! Woot... tehe.

Here it is with all my stuff on it. =P

It was pretty easy and the tilework was actually done in January. Just been kinda too busy to actually grout it until now. XD

Identity System: Final Images

Here's my final image for the identity system. Originally I wanted to go with the 5th one, but after tweaking it the image still looked odd. Also, it was confusing to people who have never seen html code before. So, I decided to go with the 4th image. Here is the final product:

This best represents my personality. The blue wave like texture of the C is a symbol for where I'm from (California), while the yellow hues represents my personality (bright, sunny, cheerful). Identity System: Rough Drafts / Critique

Here are my images for the identity system project. My goal is to use the initials of my full name, Christina Marie Lucia Cordina towards a logo which represents me. My goals in the future are to graphic design for a theme park (ride design/ imaginer) or to put my skills towards an advertising firm. Characteristics of myself are:
- creative
- animated
- outgoing
- determined
- techie
- bright
- sunny/cheerful

Critique:
The 3rd. 4th and 5th are most successful. On the 4th, decrease the size of the L, add legs to the m (so it doesn't look like a v) and center the letters. On the 5th, increase emphasis on the c's by size, decrease the M L, increase the opacity of the digital graphics text at bottom.

Social Action Poster - Final Images

Here's my two finished images! So far I really like both of them, but I'm going to print the racing one. Reason? Well, I think the cruelties of greyhound racing aren't as well known as the euthanasia killings at humane societies. Hopefully by hanging this poster somewhere on the campus, someone will realize and try to fix what's going on. Or if anything, give a greyhound the home it deserves.

Edit: Symbolism of the Greyhound Racing Poster

This poster portrays the danger of greyhound racing. The first image shows the viewer an initial image of the greyhounds racing together. A closer inspection of the image portrays that the dogs are forced to wear metal harnesses covering their mouth as they race. The next image shows the greyhound as it should look- healthy and alive. The background of brown symbolizes the dirt track that the greyhounds are forced to run on, for the first three years of their life. Afterwards, most are shot to death on the same track due to their inability to race. The yellow stripes signify quick movement and caution (for example yellow yield signs). The font used at the header signifies solidity and strength. These characteristics are reflected in the greyhound's physic and movement (they are mostly muscle, with very little body fat). The font used for the fact and website illustrates knowledge and readability through the use of a serif.

This one really jumps out at me. I love the way the puppy seems to speak to you through the cage. The only thing that really bothers me on the design is the gray texture of the background. I kept messing around with different options but they all seem very busy. Also tried it without a texture and it looks too plain. *shrugs*

This one is along the same lines of the first one. I'm debating whether or not to draw the puppy by hand in illustrator or leave it as is. I just really would like to draw all the attention to the dog and right now it seems to fade into the background.

****critique: use font from first poster on the homeless part of this one, decrease size of info at bottom, very effective****

This poster is an informational one on a little known fact of greyhound racing. I would like to find a more "racing" style font (like maybe imitate Nascar's logo?).

****critique: very professional (yayers!), use a more block style italic styled font. All caps for the header, some caps on the "for their lives", add a reference link to a greyhound rescue.****

After the critique, I decided to go along with the greyhound one. Hopefully it turns out alright. =)

Here's my final image! I added in a couple of organic shaped gold specs to add to the picture. Also, a close up of gold in a river bed.

I think the most effective part is the hands holding the pan. It brings a close-up view of what many of the miners experienced during the Gold Rush.

This image is based off of the California Gold Rush. I think the hardest part was the hands... >.< So far I really like the idea of placing the images in gold nuggets. It really adds to the theming of the piece. I'm still debating on whether or not to add more waves in the water.

Also, an individual did suggest to me to tone down the intensity of the water. Thing is, I choose an intense hue on purpose. This time period was very fast paced and intense as people rushed to the West for gold and a new future.

As for the train, I really like the background design. The only problem I'm having is how to place the images within in the train. It seems like the images are too thrown together and they don't flow with the train itself.

Postcard - Final

This design was selected because my peers and I felt it was the most effective in message and design. For the front, I increased the font of a couple of the texts (guten tag, ciao, and ni hao). I tried changing the font on the back from Calisto (the descriptions) to Bank Gothic (to match the G.C.O. text) but it ended up looking to jumbled/close together. At least w/ Calisto it's easier for the person to read.

Here is the back and front for the first postcard. I know I broke the 2 font max rule, but I believe that the use of multiple styles of fonts helps describe what culture the words are from.

Here's the next set. I really love how the front turned out (with all the flags). The only thing I'm questioning is the backside. It's alright, but it's very similar to the back of the other postcard. *shrugs*

Here is the back (top image) and the front for my caution design. I'm thinking of changing the volunteer text because usually when one thinks volunteers in Tennessee, they think UT Campus. It was suggested during the critique to switch it to MC Scots.

Here is the back and front for my tools design. It was suggested during the critique to change the text- brush stroke- appearance and place the kin takahashi logo in place of it.

I re-used the front from the other designs front along with a new back for my wet paint design. I really like how the paint drops look in the back image. The only thing that I didn't like was the text at the bottom of the shirt's back. It still feels like it stands out.

Here are my in progress images:

So far, I'm leaning towards the second wave image (with the claw wave). It shows a caution zone very effectively and I love how the gray offsets the image. The only thing that I would like to work on is the position of the figure. I think it would be more effective is to have him flipped in a more uncomfortable position. The first wave sign is okay just I really don't like the stylization of the waves and the figure looks very calm / relaxed.

As for the sushi signs, both of them are very effective and explain the place very clearly. I'm going to continue with working on the first one. It's more close-up and quicker to understand. As for fixing it, I'm thinking of adding a plate in the background with a brush (like the edge of a plate) and rearranging the sushi around for a more orderly scheme.
